Hijackers strike again

ALEXANDRA – Hijackers strike again at Alex's notorious spot.

The intersection of Vincent Tshabalala Road and 8th Avenue in Alexandra is notorious for hijackings, and once again has lived up to its bad name when a 32-year-old Edenvale woman was hijacked of her silver Honda Brio with registration CK56FS GP while waiting at the traffic lights.

The victim told police that she was approached by two men at the driver’s window. One of the suspects allegedly pulled out a firearm and ordered her to exit the vehicle or else they would shoot her.

The woman complied and the suspects jumped into her car and sped off in the direction of Alex Clinic. Inside the car was a laptop, a Samsung S3 cellphone, the victim’s purse containing R500 and her drivers’ licence. The total value of the goods and car are estimated to be more than R150 000.

Alex Police Station spokesperson, Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said no arrests have been made and police were still on the hunt for the culprits.
