Son breaks into mother’s house during her weekend outing

ALEXANDRA – Son breaks into his mother's house while she was away in Soweto to visit her mother.

A woman’s weekend outing to see her mother in Soweto turned into a nightmare when she returned home to find her house had been broken into, allegedly by her son.

According to spokesperson for Alex Police Station, Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, the 31-year-old woman of Laduma Street in Ext 7 had locked her doors and closed her windows on Friday morning when she left for work.

While at work, she decided she was going to visit her mother in Soweto and never returned home after work, but went straight to Soweto. She

only arrived back at her house on Monday evening after knocking off from work.

To her horror, she noticed the door was slightly ajar and she pushed it open to gain entry and discovered that her baby cot, blankets, DVDs, DVD player, amplifiers, baby clothes, pampers and cash to the value of R1 500 were all missing.

On close inspection of the door, she realised it had been burgled. The total value of the stolen items was close to R10 000.

When she approached her landlord, she was told that her son had allegedly broken into the house and taken all the items she listed as stolen. She then learnt that her son had already been detained by correctional services for violating his parole conditions.

The case continues.
