Knitting knuts invite residents to join in and knit for charity

JOHANNESBURG - The Knitting Knuts urge residents to go nuts for knitting.

The Knitting Knuts are inviting residents from various suburbs to join them in knitting for the needy this winter.

The group, which has been active for the past 20 years, comprises women who knit at home and who meet annually to decide which charities to donate the knitted clothing to.

Past recipients include the Mother Theresa Home in Yeoville, orphanages in Hillbrow, the Nashua Children’s Charity, Hayani and other women and child abuse shelters.

The generous group has also donated knitted items to squatter camps and child-headed homes.

Residents interested in joining the worthy cause can contact Doris Pollak or Hilary Sassen for more information.

Wool is supplied to those involved in the knitting.
