Three men charged for Parkmore resident’s brutal murder

ALEXANDRA –Three men from Alexandra await trial for murder of a Parkmore resident at his home.

Three Alex men, two of whom are foreign nationals living in the township, were further remanded in custody by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court for the murder of another foreign national at his employer’s Parkmore home.

The accused are also charged with motor vehicle theft from the home. They were arrested two days after the incident which occurred at midday on 18 June last year when the homeowner was away on holiday.

The court heard that the trio allegedly plotted to first kill the victim and then rob the house, said to have contained lots of money. They allegedly took a taxi from Alex to Sandton and proceeded on foot to the home where the victim let in the two foreign nationals known to him. The other, a local citizen, was said to have remained outside.

It was alleged they first joined the victim who was drinking alcohol and one of them also went to buy more alcohol. The deceased allegedly prepared food which they all ate while continuing to drink. One of them was said to have stood up, approached the deceased from behind and allegedly hit him on the head with a brick. He then throttled him while the other held his legs until he lost consciousness. The accused were alleged to have covered his head in plastic bag to ensure he suffocated.

A neighbour, alerted to the incident by a loud noise, pressed a panic button after seeing a car leaving the home at high speed with three occupants unknown to her. The noise was seemingly from the car being driven through the garage door and the gate.

When they were arrested, one of the accused was wearing a glove and another had a knife and two cellphones, presumed stolen from the deceased. The glove was sent for analysis and the results allegedly linked it to the crime scene.

One of the accused admitted to the planned murder and robbery and claimed they used the car to get away before they robbed the house of any money or items.
