Two men nabbed for armed robbery of goods worth R20 000

ALEXANDRA - Two men arrested and two other accomplices are still at large after they robbed a woman of goods worth more than R20 000 from her home in 6th Avenue.

Two men have been nabbed by Alexandra police in connection with an armed robbery at a house in 6th Avenue in which goods worth more than R20 000 were stolen.

The 26-year-old victim of the robbery said that, just as she was about to lock her door soon after her arrival home, she was confronted by four men, two of them armed with firearms, who forcibly entered the house. Three of them then started searching the house while one armed accomplice stood guard at the door.

According to Alex Police Station spokesperson Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, the suspects stole one Samsung Galaxy Note 4 valued at R11 000, one Blackberry phone valued at R3 000, one Sony Ericson phone valued at R4 500, one pair of sneakers valued at R1 000, a purse valued at R500, two swatch wristwatches valued at R1 200, a satchel valued at R500 and her bank cards.

Maphakela said the police had since arrested two suspects and were on the hunt for their two other accomplices, who were still at large. He would not divulge if any of the stolen items was recovered during the arrests but added that the complainant indicated she would be able to identify the suspects.

No shots were fired during the robbery.
