Rape suspect on the run

A woman’s ex-boyfriend is on the run after he allegedly grabbed her in the street and took her to his house where he is said to have raped her.

This happened after the former boyfriend called the 40-year-old woman on 28 March at about 6pm while she was drinking with friends. The suspect is said to have asked to meet the woman so they could talk about resuscitating their relationship.

After a couple of drinks, the woman and a friend left to meet the suspect. According to Alex Police Station’s spokesperson, Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, as soon as the woman’s companion left, the suspect is said to have threatened to beat up the woman.

Maphakela said the suspect then allegedly grabbed her and walked with her to his house where it is claimed he raped her.

The suspect is still at large.
