Two Alex men were denied bail by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court. They are facing a charge for the possession of a motor vehicle which had been hijacked in Sandringham.
The court heard that at about 2.30pm on 30 January, the accused, aged 22 and 24, were spotted in Alex by the police flying squad driving a Peugeot. The police followed the vehicle and when they were in close proximity, activated their blue lights.
The driver then stopped, jumped out of the car and fled the scene, leaving behind the passenger who was then arrested. The driver was tracked and also arrested shortly afterwards.
The vehicle was returned to its owner.
The accused will reappear in court once the investigation is completed.
