Security guard robs company he was assigned to protect

ALEXANDRA - A former security guard is out on bail and will reappear at the Alex Magistrates Court on 5 February for a case of business robbery from a company he was assigned to protect.

A former security guard, who allegedly stole from a company he was assigned to protect, is out on bail and will reappear in Alex Magistrates’ Court on 5 February to face a charge of business robbery.

The suspect was hired by a private security company to perform daytime duties for another Hyde Park-based company and allegedly committed the crime at midnight on 2 November last year with an accomplice who is still at large.

The court heard that on the night, he allegedly broke into the company’s premises and stole 31 bottles of whisky, champagne, Tequila and Amarula and an amplifier, CDs, DVDs, video player and cables. Other office items were also discovered scattered on the floor in a storeroom which the two allegedly forced open.

The discovery was made by the security company’s supervisor who contacted a company official the following day after he had been alerted to the burglary. After inspecting the crime scene, they viewed footage from a security camera which showed the two suspects, one identified as Tusi, committing the crime.
