‘Wits students assaulted’
JOBURG - According to Twitter feeds from WitsSRC #FMF 2016, students were allegedly assaulted at 6am this morning by private security guards.
This after students had gathered in Solomon House, a central Wits student meeting point, to call for free education for all.
Tweets state that students were allegedly given no eviction notice to leave Solomon House when they were forcibly removed.
Tensions remain high as students said they will not back down until their demands have been met.
Shirona Patel, head of communications, has indicated that the senior executive team has decided to postpone face-face registration at the university. All students are urged to register online.
