ANC: “DA billboard was a deliberate deflection”

JOHANNESBURG – ANC spokesperson, Zizi Kodwa, has responded to the unveiling of the Democratic Alliance (DA) billboard, which tallies the number of people who lose their job each day in South Africa.

On 7 January, the DA and the party’s leader, Mmusi Maimane, unveiled a billboard reading “1 842 852 more people jobless under Zuma’s ANC and counting…”

“The timing of the billboard unveiling took place during a time when the DA members were under fire for their racist comments,” Kodwa responded, referring to the racist comments made by Penny Sparrow on social media.

“The billboard was a deliberate deflection from the DA member, Penny Sparrow, and her racist comments,” he said.

“My second point is that, according to Maimane, all the problems in South Africa started in 1994, and it’s not true, said Kodwa.

“The reason he does not want to mention pre-1994 is because their members are beneficiaries of the past. Maimane never mentions the past because his members are beneficiaries of apartheid and he protects white privilege. That is why it is racist.”

He did not comment on the validity of the billboard tally of the number of people who become unemployed each day.
