First aid kit should be your number one friend on the road, warns ER24

JOBURG - It is that time of the year again when travelling is unavoidable and the festive fever is mercilessly gripping those on the roads.

Pieter Rossouw of ER24 is urging travellers to remain inseparable from their first aid kits. “The most important thing any motorist should carry is a well-stocked first aid kit. This is not only applicable to motorists, everyone should have a first aid kit nearby for emergencies. Most pharmacies sell first aid kits that have all you need in them,” said Rossouw.

He added that motorists should be prepared for any emergency which might occur and advised them to always carry water in the car.

“In order to get the most out of your first aid kit and to make sure you are using the equipment correctly, read and follow any instructions on the kit. It is also wise to attend first aid training – it will help prepare you for various emergency situations and also ensure that you use all elements correctly,” said the ER24 spokesman.

He also advised motorists to regularly check their first aid kit to make sure that all items were still stocked.

“… make sure that you take out and replace any perished, expired or damaged contents. And ensure that your first aid kit is marked properly so someone else can easily identify it,” said Rossouw.
