Two men bust on charge of raping girlfriends

ALEXANDRA - Two men have been detained at the Alexandra Police Station cells after they were separately arrested for allegedly raping their girlfriends.

The first suspect allegedly raped his 48-year-old girlfriend of 5th Avenue, Alex, while the second suspect allegedly raped his 35-year-old girlfriend of 16th Avenue.

Alex police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, said the 5th Avenue couple had spent three weeks sleeping in separate rooms when the suspect pleaded with his girlfriend to allow him to sleep with her.

The girlfriend is said to have refused the request, saying she did not trust the health of the suspect as he had another girlfriend who he was bedding outside their relationship. The naked suspect is said to have then grabbed hold of his girlfriend, threw her on the bed and pinned her down before raping her.

The other suspect of 16th Avenue is said to have arrived at the house and found some condoms in the drawer and accused his girlfriend of dating another man and sleeping with him in the presence of their children.

The suspect is said to have grabbed a knife and went straight to his girlfriend, who was sleeping, threatened her with the knife and raped her.

Maphakela said both suspects will appear separately in Alexandra Magistrates’ Court soon on charges of rape.
