Couple faces drug possession trial

ALEXANDRA – Bramley couple arrested in connection with drugs after tip-off.

The Alexandra Magistrates’ Court granted bail of R10 000 and R5 000 respectively, to a man and woman arrested for alleged possession of drugs.

They will reappear in court after further investigations are completed.

The court heard that the two, who are said to be in a romantic relationship, were arrested on 29 August at their home in Bramley.

This after a tip-off from the public about suspected drug-related activities taking place at the house.

With a search warrant in hand, police went to the house and were let in by the man. They searched the premises and found two plastic bags – one containing clothes and the other had a white powdery substance suspected to be used in processing cocaine. After searching further, they found another bag containing brown granules suspected to be used in manufacturing tik.

The two pleaded not guilty when applying for bail.
