Serial child rape case postponed again

ALEXANDRA - The alleged child serial rapist and taxi driver who was in the news headlines recently reappeared at the Alexandra Magistrate Court 4 November where he was further remanded in custody pending further investigation.

His case first appeared in Alex News’ Cemetery bust, week ending 9 October.

Ditinti was arrested on 30 September after he was caught by Metro police officers allegedly raping an underage girl in a taxi at a Marlboro graveyard. He was later allegedly linked to the rape of two other underage girls, but is said to have admitted to raping only one of these girls.

His first trial on 30 October and the second on 2 November were, like the latest on 4 November, postponed to enable further investigation, including DNA testing.

In all three, his legal representatives opted to forego a bail application and he was remanded in custody for his own safety. The case has attracted public interest and it is feared it would incite public fury should he be granted bail. This follows demonstrations at all the accused’s three court appearances which included children waving placards against child abuse.

The taxi he was using is said to have been handed over to the owner.

His next court appearance will be on 8 December.
