Man allegedly gives child R2 after rape

ALEXANDRA - An Alex man alleged to have raped a minor was remanded in custody by the Alexandra Magistrate Court pending bail application.

An Alex man was remanded in custody by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court pending a bail application after allegedly having raped a minor.

The court heard that the accused, Tshepo Mofokeng (21), allegedly raped the minor, who is a relative, at her home on 8th Avenue, where the accused also resided. The alleged incident occurred at 3.15pm on 28 September.

It is alleged that Mofokeng, who was alone with the minor, undressed and raped her on a couch without a condom. It is alleged that when the victim tried to scream, he covered her mouth with his hand. She continued to cry from the pain during the ordeal. When he had finished, he allegedly gave her R2 and apologised.

The minor’s mother, who was at work, was informed of the incident by another relative. She went home and found her daughter watching TV. The child confirmed the incident. The mother then reported it to the police leading to Mofokeng’s arrest.

The minor is said to have revealed that it was allegedly the fourth time he had raped her, but she was afraid to tell anyone about it out of shame and from fear of Mofokeng.

A doctor who examined her found injuries to her private parts associated with forced penetration. A DNA sample was taken from the accused for testing and as evidence when he next appears in court for his bail application on a date yet to be announced.
