Changing the world one #RAK at a time
JOBURG – Popularly known as the Good News Guy on online radio station CliffCentral, Dainfern resident Brent Lindeque has a talent and passion for inspiring his fellow South Africans to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.
His passion has now spilled over, and as one of the first ambassadors of the #NissanMagic #RAK15 (random acts of kindness) campaign, Lindeque continues helping those in need.
His story began last year when he was nominated to down a drink in the popular social media drinking game #Neknomination. However, Lindeque completely turned the drinking game on its head when he decided to help a homeless beggar, turning the #Neknomination into a random act of kindness nomination – #RAKnomination.
Fast forward to this year, Lindeque continues to do good, only this time with the help of Nissan South Africa in its campaign #NissanMagic #RAK15.
Lindeque said, “For this year’s campaign I stepped up the challenge and will randomly help more people wherever I can. In doing so, I took up Nissan’s challenge to make my actions last well beyond the Nissan campaign.”
Carly Ritz, public relations officer at WE Communications, explained that Nissan South Africa was throwing their full weight behind #NissanMagic, and as part of the campaign there would be #RAKs each month.
As the first ambassador, Lindeque drove around Johannesburg in a Nissan NV200 for an entire month collecting hundreds of donations for worthy causes.
“Each #NissanMagic ambassador has taken on the responsibility of making a difference. Nissan is simply assisting them by providing a means [vehicle], they have the responsibility of making it mean something,” Ritz said.
“I am very excited to be part of the #NissanMagic campaign as part of #RAK15,” Lindeque said.
“Nissan’s kind offer to use its national network and fleet of vehicles is a perfect example of the spirit behind #RAK15 – using what you have to randomly help someone else. As with #RAKnominations, I am sure we will be surprised by the power of doing good.”
According to Lindeque, joining the RAK15 campaign is easy. “Don’t wait to be nominated, just do a random act of kindness. Create a video of your act and nominate three people to do the same. Share the video using #RAK15 and repeat,” he said.
