Don’t let changing your tyre tire you out
JOBURG - Tyre company AutoQuip invited female guests to an evening of learning about tyre safety and how to change a tyre at the company's dealership in Fourways View Shopping Centre.
The women were taught how to check their tyre pressure and the danger of poor tyre maintenance.
Kim Bezuidenhout, AutoQuip managing director said, “As a woman it is very important to know more about your car, as well as knowing how to change a tyre. We women need to equip ourselves with more knowledge in regards to our cars because without knowledge you will not know where to begin.”
Tyre changing tips:
- Before changing your tyre, remember to place your safety triangles at both ends of your vehicle in order to warn other motorists that your vehicle is stationary
- Secure the vehicle
- Remove the wheel cover or hubcap of the tyre
- Loosen the wheel nuts
- Jack up your vehicle
- Take off the wheel nuts
- Remove the flat tyre
- Fit the spare tyre on your car
- Replace the wheel nuts
- Lower your vehicle and remove the jack and tighten wheel nuts more securely using your wrench
- Replace the wheel cover or hubcap
- Clear up and drive on safely, and remember to replace your jack, screwdriver and safety triangles in your boot.
