International artist joins BET Experience Africa

JOBURG - International RnB and soul artist, Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, musician and producer, Raphael Saadiq joins fellow RnB sensation Maxwell on the line-up for the BET Experience Africa.

Saadiq, a veteran in the music industry who has collaborated with the likes of Angie Stone and has assisted in the production of music for Whitney Houston, Elton John and John Legend, will set his shoes on South African soil for the first time in his 27-year music career for his performance at the BET Experience Africa.

BET Experience Africa is an electrifying urban entertainment and lifestyle extravaganza featuring some of the world’s best music performers.

While Saadiq’s career began in 1988 when he was a part of the group known as Tony! Toni! Toné!, over the past two decades he has mastered the art of playing bass, mellotron, keys, guitar, percussion and drums, and has worked behind the scenes as a celebrated producer, collaborator and sideman for a number of past and current big-time acts.

Since Saadiq’s early days he has carried the torch for old-school RnB.

In addition to releasing critically-acclaimed solo albums such as Ray Ray and Instant Village – which was nominated for five Grammy Awards, the multi-talented musician has also released an additional four albums since 1995, the most recent being the critically-acclaimed Stone Rollin’.

The BET Experience Africa is set to be a first-of-its-kind event, with a number of sports, beauty, fashion and inspirational events taking place before the performances.

After a fun-filled day of enthralling action and entertainment, the festival – of sorts – will be drawn to a close with the soothing sounds of singers Maxwell, Saadiq and other international and African artists.

The concert is set to take place on 12 December at the TicketPro Dome.
