Alex lekgotla coming soon

ALEXANDRA - A proposed community lekgotla for the residents of Alexandra is coming soon to map the township's development way forward.

A proposed community lekgotla for the residents of Alexandra is coming soon to map the way forward for the township’s development.

The proposed meeting was announced by councillor Sinah Gwebu, who said it would be a gathering of all people who call Alexandra their home.

“We’re just waiting for the [Human Settlements] MEC Jacob Mamabolo to give us his blessing for the lekgotla to go ahead and also assure us of his presence to give guidance to the gathering,” Gwebu said.

“The criteria [for attending the meeting] is simple and straight forward. Anyone who calls Alexandra his home is welcome to attend, including you guys from the media and other organisations such as civic bodies, NPOs, NGOs, hostel organisations and all other organisations within the community that want to take part.

“Once the MEC gives his go-ahead, a date and venue will be announced and invitations sent out to various stakeholders and interested persons and organisations.”

Gwebu said the idea behind the meeting was to move Alexandra away from the filth and poverty that currently characterises the township and “move it to a new Alexandra, a place that is spick and span which we can all be proud of.”
