Realogile Secondary School receives Mzansipad tablets

RIVONIA– Believing firmly in the importance of investing in the education of young people, major organisations across Gauteng collaborated to provide pupils from Alexandra with tablets through the Mzansipad tablet initiative.

The initiative, created by Musanda Services, a company which offers business advice to SMME’s and larger companies, saw Grade 11 and 12 pupils from Realogile Secondary School in Alexandra receiving educational tablets at a handover on Nelson Mandela Day.

Present at the handover was Gauteng Premier, David Makhura, who spoke of his desire to bring change to the school through improving access to information.

“[This will be done] through the rollout of the information communication technology (ICT) system at the school along with Mzansipad as a flagship,” he said.

He added that everyone should be inspired by the spirit of the iconic Nelson Mandela, the founding father of democracy, to do things that will help others and that will make a mark in society.

Matlaupe Motlagabo, principal at the school, also addressed the pupils and urged them to take advantage of the opportunities afforded to them.

He also thanked the various organisations for bringing the initiative to life and for the support given to the school.

“We thank Musanda and corporates for what they have done and we assure them that the resources will be used effectively at the school,” he said.

The Mzansipad – one child, one tablet initiative – is an strategy focused on giving young South Africans quality education, irrespective of their background. It is endorsed by renowned figures such as Dr Richard Maponya, Mr David Makhura and other major organisations.

The handover took place in Rivonia and began at 10.30am.
