Four men and a teen in custody for murder

ALEXANDRA - Four Alex men and a teenager have been remanded in prison by the Alex Magistrate Court for a murder case.

Four Alex men have been remanded in custody by the Alex Magistrates’ Court for a murder case; with the fifth suspect, a 17-year-old, being remanded to a place of safety. All five suspects will reappear in court after further investigations have been concluded.

Alex police spokesperson Warrant Officer Manare Ramotshela said the accused are suspects in the alleged murder of a man, identified as Nqobile Masuku of Rasta Village, in the early evening of 8 July. A witness to the incident informed police that the deceased sustained injuries from an assault by a group of people.

Ramotshela said the corpse was taken to the Alex Clinic by the Emergency Management Services where an autopsy revealed injuries to the head, face, mouth and swelling on the eyes. The body was later transferred to the government mortuary.
