A splash of colour for old-age home

ALEXANDRA - Staff from Hansgrohe added some splash of colour to Itlhokomeleng Old Age Home in Alexandra as part of its revamp on Mandela Day.

Staff from Hansgrohe, a sanitary fittings manufacturer, added some splash of colour to Itlhokomeleng Old Age Home in Alexandra as part of its revamp on Mandela Day.

The staff descended on the home which houses 91 elderly and disabled people in 8th Avenue. In the loving spirit of Mandela Day, the Hansgrohe Johannesburg team set out to revamp the home. A total of 18 team members got their hands dirty, adding a much-needed coat of paint to the momentous structures erected in 1991 by a group of compassionate community women.

The home was founded by Alexandra’s own Mother Teresa, Marjorie Manganye, whose heartwarming efforts have been recognised by President Jacob Zuma and his cabinet members.

President Zuma’s cabinet spent time with Manganye in 2012 to recognise her work. Alexandra holds a special place to the Hansgrohe team and last year the team got into the spirit of Mandela Day by handing out sandwiches and soup to the community.

Besides revamping the home by adding a splash of colour, the Hansgrohe staff also brought some food for the elderly and disabled residents of the home.
