Here are six ideas:
- Encourage your family and friends to clean out their closets and donate clothes to a homeless shelter, local church or the Salvation Army
- Your neighbourhood can collect canned food and water, as well as blankets, and donate hampers to homeless shelters or local soup kitchens
- Make a whole load of sandwiches and hand them out to the people on the street who need them most
- Gather your neighbours and clean up your local park. Pick up the litter, fix up the play areas and maybe give the place a new coat of paint
- Go to your local old-age home or oncology centre and read or interact with patients
- You can also choose to help out at a number of events happening in and around Jozi for Mandela Day. Benevolent
