JOBURG - On 18 July, Nelson Mandela Day, we celebrate a man who has done so much, not only for our country, but for humanity as a whole.

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was an anti-apartheid activist, a revolutionary, a politician and went on to serve as South Africa’s President for what was perceived as the most fruitful time for the country.

More than that, he was an icon and a visionary – a legacy that will live in the hearts of the world.

We all know that he was imprisoned at Robben Island Prison for 27 years in cell number 46664, but there are some interesting little-known facts about Madiba that City Buzz thought may make for a good read.
