Men nabbed with unlicensed gun and hijacked vehicle

ALEXANDRA - Two Alex men are due to appear in court for the possession an unlicensed firearm and a hijacked vehicle.

Two Alex men have been arrested and are due to appear in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and a hijacked vehicle.

Alex police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Manare Ramotshela, said police on a routine patrol stopped the men who were driving a Mazda 323 on 26 June on the corner of 15th and Richard Baloyi avenues. The men were ordered out of the car, searched and one of them was found with a pistol with the serial number filed off. The man failed to produce or confirm if he had a firearm licence. Both men also failed to confirm ownership of the vehicle, which was checked and found to have been hijacked in Vosloorus.

They will appear in court after investigations have been concluded.
