Man nabbed with items from hijacked car

ALEXANDRA - The Alexandra Magistrate Court has remanded a man in Sun City Prison pending further investigation for possession of suspected stolen good and illegal ammunition.

The Alexandra Magistrates’ Court remanded a man in custody at Sun City Prison pending further investigations for possession of suspected stolen goods and illegal ammunition.

Alex police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Manare Ramotshela, said the man who resides in Tsutsumani, Alexandra, was arrested at his home on 1 July by police who were tipped off while on a routine patrol.

Ramotshela said the police searched the man’s house and found 16 live rounds of ammunition, a driver’s licence and a bank card belonging to a motorist whose vehicle was reported as hijacked on 29 June on Lenin Road, Tsutsumani. They also found other items that did not belong to the suspect.

Ramotshela said the man failed to explain why he possessed items that were not his. Police investigations will also determine if the man was involved in the hijacking and other crimes.
