The Alex Magistrates’ Court issued a 66-year-old Alex woman a protection order against her son’s girlfriend in a case of crimen injuria (use of obscene or offensive language).
Alex police spokesperson Warrant Officer Manare Ramotshela said the crime was committed on 22 June when the girlfriend insulted her boyfriend and his mother. Ramotshela said the girlfriend was said to have first hurled insults at the son in front of the mother who tried to calm her down.
The girlfriend is alleged to have turned on the mother and swore at her. When the woman asked why she had turned on her, the girlfriend apparently pushed the woman while continuing to swear at her. The victims reported the incident to the police.
The protection order prohibits the girlfriend from getting close to the woman’s home.
