ALEXANDRA - An Alex man has been retained in custody after appearing in court for raping his girl friend.

An Alex man is in custody after appearing in court for allegedly raping his girlfriend.

The court heard that at 6.30pm on 30 May, the man and the girlfriend, both of 16th Avenue, met on the same street. The man allegedly beat and forced the girlfriend to go with him to his place where on arrival he allegedly beat her again with a bottle and pushed her against a wall.

He is said to have kept her in the room and, at 1.30am the following morning, allegedly forced her to have sex with him without a condom. She claimed that at 8.30am he beat her again and left her locked in the room after telling her he would kill her on 5 June.

He is said to have returned after a while and, at 2pm allegedly raped her again, and at 4pm he left her locked in the room. On his return, she was combing her hair and he is said to have asked her what she thought she was doing. The suspect then allegedly cut her hair with a pair scissors and razor blade.

Her mother and two brothers, who went looking for her, rescued the woman from the suspect’s place that evening, but only after he had allegedly threatened to kill one of her brothers. The family members reported him, which led to his arrest.

The suspect will appear in court at a later date after further investigations have been concluded.
