USA trip a success for Ratang Bana

Making a difference using food gardening to help fight diseas, unemployment and poverty.

The founder of Ratang Bana, Ingrid Maredi, deemed his recent two-week trip to the University of Wisconsin in the United States a successful one. Ratang Bana is a non-profit organisation which caters for orphans, vulnerable children and elders. It also creates job opportunities through agriculture.

The aim of the tour was to share ideas with other global leaders on how to help improve the quality of life through food gardening, which could conquer unemployment, poverty and hunger. And according to Maredi, the tour benefited her organisation immensely.

A delighted Maredi said, “It was a wonderful trip and I hope to implement all the ideas I got to help fight the challenge of unemployment through food gardening.”

Maredi also added that the trip will result in an ongoing partnership that will help the community of Alexandra, where students from the University of Wisconsin will visit Ratang Bana in January 2016 to help implement some of the ideas from the United States of America.
