Slap chips ad one of the best liked ads in SA

JOBURG – The new McCain slap chips advert has been voted one of the 20 best ads in South Africa.

This is according to the Millward Brown Best Liked Ad list, which celebrated adverts that have been rated as ‘most liked’ by South African audiences.

Deolinda Da Costa, marketing manager of McCain South Africa said, “We really wanted to show how food has the ability to create special memories and show those real connections that are centred around food. We are incredibly proud to be part of this prestigious list.”

The Best Liked Ads list is based on Millward Brown’s Adtrack ‘newcomer’ measure, which is the first in-market measure that occurs about two weeks after all new brand commercials have been flighted. The measure includes prompted awareness, consumer recall of the advertising message and overall ‘liking’ rated out of 10.

Da Costa added that filming took place in the streets of Joburg and Soweto to give the ad a real local and authentic feel.

“South African consumers are known to love slap chips. Many of us grew up eating them and most of us have fond memories of sharing them with family and friends. They have become a part of our heritage as South Africans.”
