First Aid course moved to new date

ALEXANDRA - The First Aid training course for club coaches, chairmen and officials which had been scheduled for 28 to 30 April has been moved to 12 to 14 May.

The First Aid training course for club coaches, chairmen and officials which was scheduled for 28 to 30 April has been moved to 12 to 14 May.

Secretary general of the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association, Mafika Morajane said the course had to be moved to a new date due after a request from Emergency Management Services (EMS) at the Be-Safe Centre on Alexandra’s 8th Avenue.

Morajane said EMS had indicated that they had another engagement on the earlier dates and asked the association if it could move the courses.

“We both agreed on 12 to 14 May as the best dates for all of us,” Morajane said.

The daily four-hour course will still run for three days, starting at 8am in the boardroom of the Ntate Molepo offices of the association at the Alexandra Stadium, and participants are urged to come in their numbers for this important course.

The course was initiated by technical director of Alex football, Mxolisi Mngomezulu, along with Lusanda Jika of United Stars Football Club, following an incident during the quarter finals of the recently concluded Ntate Molepo Tournament at the Altrek Stadium in Eastbank in which Rainbow stars player, Mandilakhe Mgijimi fractured his leg in the U17 game against Alex Kings United.

Mngomezulu had earlier said the course was aimed at empowering staff of the clubs who are directly involved with the players on the field, with skills to enable them to deal with any situation in the wake of an emergency, such as that of Mgijimi.

Meanwhile, the association is to release a statement on Monday to announce the composition of the executive and board members following the conclusion of the elective annual general meeting recently.
