It’s possible – guilt-free chocolate mousse

JOHANNESBURG – Forget hand creams, slippers and bathrobes … give mum the chance to indulge – without feeling guilty afterwards.

Whip up this delicious chocolate mousse that’s healthier than it looks, thanks to a recipe from The Diet Everyone Talks About Eat Slim recipe book. It’s completely decadent but only has 3.8g of carbohydrates per serving.

Ingredients

30ml gelatine

200ml cold water

325ml cream

15ml butter

50g unsweetened chocolate

1ml salt

5ml vanilla essence

5ml rum essence/extract

8drops Natreen liquid sweetener

Method

1. Soften the gelatine in the cold water.

2. Combine 200ml cream, 125ml water, butter and chocolate in a microwavable dish. Microwave for 2 minutes, whisking the mixture every now and then. Cook longer if needed.

3. When boiling, remove and add softened gelatine, salt, vanilla, rum and Natreen. Blend well.

4. Chill until mixture is the consistency of egg whites.

5. Whip 125ml cream until stiff. Fold cream into chocolate gelatine mixture.

6. Pour mixture into mould. Chill until firm.
