Learn foreign languages with Lingo Links

JOBURG - The non-profit organisation Lingo Links, which focuses on the development of fluency in foreign languages through small conversation circles, invites Johannesburg North residents to join in on the learning experience.

Founder of Lingo Links Rhona Wetzka said the foreign language conversation circles consist of small groups that meet either in members’ homes or coffee shops to socialise in different languages such as Italian, French, Greek and Chinese, among others.

She added, “There are also groups which help newcomers to improve their English and adapt to their new lives. African languages mostly rely on the skills of retired professionals, like teachers or lawyers.”

Wetzka said, “Each group is unique and chooses its own name, way of operating, meeting time and place.”

“The only requirement is a basic working knowledge of the foreign language. We don’t teach. We just offer the opportunity to practise the language and of course help where necessary. If there is no suitable group in your area, start one. It only takes two to lay the foundations,” she added.

Wetzka encourages all residents to visit the organisation’s website for details on how to connect with other interested individuals to start a conversation circle.
