INITIAL REPORT: It was reported that the bullets seemed to have been fired from a nearby hostel.
Supporters ran for cover. It is reported that the man has been taken to hospital.
The march is meant to be peaceful and motorists are urged to avoid 4th Avenue where the march will take place.
It was reported that in his address of the crowd, Malema urged the residents of Alexandra to stand against xenophobia and that no one should misinterpret the words of the Zulu king, nor should they kill in the name of the king.
He said the community should ask the government for more jobs, not the foreigners.
It was reported by EWN that Malema said, “You can kill all [foreigners] and you will still die in poverty.”
