Sacred Heart College donates to the Cape Fire Relief Fund

JOBURG - Sacred Heart College's primary school hosted a Swim-a-Thon on 7 March, part of whose proceeds were donated to the 702 Cape Fire Relief Fund.

Sacred Heart College’s primary school hosted a swim-a-thon on 7 March and part of the proceeds raised on the day were donated to the 702 Cape Fire Relief Fund.

The purpose of this year’s event was to raise money for the refurbishment of the swimming pool change rooms. About R78 000 was raised. Of that, R1 000 was donated to the 702 Cape Fire Relief Fund.

The annual event was well attended. It was a wonderful morning of delicious food on sale and the weather was kind. Pupils, parents and teachers alike took part. “This event was introduced to the school’s calendar in 2008 because we wanted to introduce swimming to our pre-primary school physical education curriculum.

“In 2009, we built the baby pool and over the years have used the money raised from the annual swim-a-thons to revamp the entire pool area. This year, it was once again a wonderful occasion with the teacher-parent relay the most exciting event of the morning,” said Robyn Picas, principal of the primary school.
