Doctors without Borders need your help

ALEXANDRA - An international medical humanitarian organisation appeals for donations to keep its operations afloat.

An international medical humanitarian organisation is appealing for donations to keep its operations afloat.

Doctors Without Borders/Medecines Sans Frontiers provides emergency aid in more than 60 countries including South Africa, and relies on donor support for the operations of 20 000 medical and non-medical professionals.

The donations are used for feeding programmes during chronic food shortages, and to tackle neglected diseases and epidemics such as HIV/Aids, malaria and tuberculosis. They also organise mass immunisations.

Eighty two percent of donations is used for logistics, medicines, doctors and material for ongoing projects and emergencies, and 18 percent is for communications, campaigns, advocacy and fundraising.

Donations can be made online or by contacting their donor services office.
