Casual Day thanks public for helping raise R28 mil.

JOBURG - The Casual Day project leaders expressed gratitude towards the public following the impressive funds generated for the initiatice last year.

The campaign raised a whopping R28 million in 2014 and this was managed through corporate sponsorship and the R10 donations made for a Casual Day sticker.

Casual Day project leader, Celeste Vinassa, explained that the amount raised was beyond their expectations and would contribute greatly towards improving the lives of others.

‘The amount raised is over R3 million more than we raised [in 2013]; which means we can expand our reach and secure greater rights for our constituency,” she said.

“Since the inception of the project in 1995, we have never seen such a massive year-on-year growth.”

Vinassa added that this year’s campaign would be aimed at spreading the message of the social impact of the funds as much of the work done is focused on lobbying for the rights of people with disabilities.

She also thanked the media, celebrities and ambassadors for the role played in spreading the message of the campaign.

“Casual Day’s mission is to raise funds, but it is also to raise awareness around disability, and we can only do this with our army of celebrity volunteers,” she said.’

Casual Day is the flagship project of the National Council for Persons with Physical Disabilities in South Africa.

The project’s national beneficiaries include the National Council for Persons with Physical Disabilities, SA National Council for the Blind and the South African Federation for Mental Health amongst many others.
