Two rifles, ammunition and property recovered from a criminal gang in Alexandra were traced to a home which was burgled in Alberton.
The six men and a woman were handed over to the Alberton police for custody.
Alex police spokesperson Warrant Officer Manare Ramotshela said the rifles were identified through serial numbers which had not been filed off. The gang faces charges of possessing illegal firearms and ammunition, housebreaking and stolen property which included jewellery.
The guns have been sent for ballistic testing to determine if they were used to commit any other crimes.
The items were found hidden under a bed at a house in 18th Avenue in a joint operation with the Flying Squad after a tip-off from the public.
