Church volunteers give back to Alex clinic

SANDTON - A group of women from the Rosebank Union Church in Sandton volunteered their time and effort toward revamping the Medico-Legal Clinic in Alexandra.

The women, in partnership with local charity Rays of Hope, made strides in giving the Alexandra clinic a new look. The clinic is used for counselling and helping women and child victims who have suffered severe trauma due to physical and sexual abuse. Since the revamp, the clinic is now a welcoming, restful place of refuge for the patients.

The counselling room, children’s examination room and hallway each received a fresh layer of paint in pale blue and beige, and murals were painted in the Children’s Examination Room. Although the speed of the women’s work was slowed down by persistent rain, the spirits of the volunteers was in no way dampened. Since the project commenced in December last year, the clinic looks better than what it was, creating an environment in which spiritual and emotional healing can take place.

“Thank you to all Rays of Hope volunteers who constantly give so selflessly of their time and efforts to making our broader community a better place, and to assist those less fortunate than ourselves,” said Andrea Dienst, Rays of Hope marketing assistant.
