Swallows to face the wrath of premier league

JOBURG - Moroka Swallows will face the wrath of Premier Soccer League after failing to show up for a scheduled press conference for the Nedbank Cup.

Moroka Swallows will face the wrath of the Premier Soccer League after failing to show up for a scheduled press conference for the Nedbank Cup.

League spokesperson Luxolo September said the league would institute internal disciplinary proceedings against the Dube Birds who failed to attend a joint press conference with the University of Pretoria (AmaTuks) on 19 February at the league’s offices in Parktown.

“I can tell you that Swallows will answer to the internal processes within the league for their no show at this press conference,” September told media at the conference.

Meanwhile, AmaTuks coach Sly Mosala said his team was hoping to beat the Birds in the Nedbank Cup, a tournament that they have never progressed past the first round in the three seasons of their Absa Premiership status.

AmaTuks captain Tebogo Monyai said, “When you hunting in the bush and you see a bird that is struggling to fly, you take advantage to make it easy meat, and this is precisely what we want to do to the Birds come Wednesday next week.”

AmaTuks will be boosted by the return of their in-form striker, Thabo Mnyamane, who had to sit out two games after he was red-carded in a previous match.

“I am sure with the return of Mnyamane we will braai the Birds for lunch on the day,” said Monyai, a former Birds player. “I will do them no favours on Wednesday. As captain I will ensure I marshall the boys well for victory,” he added.
