The City of Johannesburg is calling on ratepayers in Alexandra who form part of the Region E area of demarcation to come in their numbers for a rates review policy meeting.

The meeting will be held at Altrek Hall in Eastbank next to the Eastbank High School on 25 February starting at 6pm. The city council reviews its rates policy on an annual basis to determine categories of properties, which will then be rated according to a tariff.

Ratepayers and interested parties are encouraged to participate in the drafting of the 2015/2016 Rates Policy. Residents’ suggestions and recommendations are important to the city council, as this forms part of consultative process in the drafting of the Rates Policy before implementation in line with the Municipal Property Rates Act.

Those unable to attend can also send their written submissions, views and suggestions to: Ratescomment@joburg.org.za

Other rates meetings in the Region E area will be held at the Marlboro Recreation Centre at the corner of Zinia and Islamabad drives, Marlboro on 18 February at 6pm, while another is scheduled for 23 February from 6pm at the Ernest Ullman Park Recreational Centre on Alna Street in Gallo Manor, Sandton,
