Rambau’s dream is close to reality

ALEXANDRA - A quite but self assured lad is hopeful to see his career dream become a reality.

A soft spoken, but self assured, lad is hopeful to see his career dream become a reality.

Sylvester Rambau (19) who intends to be an electrical engineer said this after receiving his 2014 matric certificate at Realogile Secondary School.

The results qualify him for bachelors degree course. Despite the school’s poor performance according to the principal Joe Mashitoa, Rambau is one of 26 students to qualify for university courses with 46 heading for diploma and national higher certificate courses. They comprise the 96 who passed against the 68 failures from 171 students who wrote the examinations. Mashitoa who only guided the school in an acting capacity from July last year suggests implementing an academic performance improvement plan to turn around the school’s performance if given a chance.

Successful Rambau intends to enroll at Wits University where he said his curiosity for physics and electrical gadgets will be tested at a higher level. He credits the hard work and support of the teachers and other students for his achievement. “They pushed me hard, made me believe in my abilities, and my parents and relatives were very supportive,” he said.

Rambau advised the upcoming matriculants to set their year’s target at the beginning of the year and to pace themselves with achievable targets, consult teachers where they experienced difficulties and to study hard. “Sacrifice social pleasures for your better future through education and do not let anyone make uninformed decisions for your education as you alone stand to rejoice at the end of the year from hard work and dedication,” he concluded.
