Still in nappies and mastering the art of walking, one-and-half-year-old Oratile Kgopa deserves a communication award.

Seemingly able to hold a conversation, Oratile was seen recently displaying all possible facial and emotional expressions in the process of communicating presumably with dad. For her expressions, skills and pose, the baby scoops the award.

Lebohang Mahumane, an aunt, said Oratile is an extrovert and explores everything that passes by. This she said will stand in her favour when she starts creche this year.

With many children starting early childhood and development learning this year, education experts and speech therapists encourage parents and guardians to stimulate children in readiness for school-based learning. They urged parents to allow children to explore themselves and their immediate environment to curb the fear and anxiety they are likely to experience in their first day and weeks of school away from home.
