Three prospective engineers from Eastbank High School can’t wait to embark on their career choice at tertiary level.

The pupils will be spending their holidays with high hopes and picturing themselves impacting the engineering field after university.

By their own assessment, Magaila Shaune (19), Kamogelo Mathothe (18) and Puleng Mphahlele (19) are confident they will qualify for university as the exams had not been that difficult. Also, they said they had prepared well from day one of Grade 12.

They advised other pupils to have friends with the same attitude in order to mutually benefit from each other’s positive outlook on the value of education.

The trio also said they did not use drugs or drink alcohol. “Focusing on education is the only gateway to success, good jobs and income to independently fend for oneself and family,” Mathothe said. Shaune added that being able to accumulate material possessions through hard won education was also a sign of success that no one could take away.

Shaune wants to study engineering at Wits or Tswane University of Technology while Mathothe has set his sights on being a Wits civil engineering graduate. Mphahlele’s desire is to be a mining engineer and will study at Tswane University of Technology or Vaal University.
