The Alexandra Community Policing Forum cluster is inviting residents in the Alexandra policing cluster to a crime awareness public meeting and annual general meeting.

The cluster area covers Alexandra, Bramley, Sandringham, Sandton and Midrand.

The meeting will be on 7 September from 11am to 4pm at the Eastbank Hall. It will be attended by the top brass in the Department of Community Safety, including the MEC Sizakele Nkosi Malobane, provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Leseja Mothiba, cluster commander Major General Vincent Leshabane, cluster chairperson Alberto Tontigia, and commanders and members of the respective police stations and forums.

The meeting will focus on the challenges faced by communities on crime related matters such as drugs, domestic violence, rape, robberies, murder and piracy. Also, it will encourage residents to get more involved in policing matters in their precinct by reporting anyone involved in any kind of crime including their own children, relatives and friends.

The secretary of the Alex forum, Benjamin Chisare said besides uniting communities and police in fighting crime, the outcome of the meeting would also contribute to a crime free summit for later in the year. Chisare urged residents to come in numbers and with prepared proposals for discussion as “combating of crime is a collective effort”.
