Joburg residents can welcome spring with a splash

Joburg’s weather may not be indicative of spring being only days away, but the City of Joburg is setting the tone for the season by re-opening 46 of its swimming pools.

The municipal pools will be opened on the 1 September and a further 10 swimming pools will open by the end of the year in readiness for the swimming season.

In total by summer, 56 of the city council’s 58 swimming pools in all seven regions will be open to the public.

The municipal outdoor swimming facilities will be open throughout summer at least five days a week.

MMC for Community Development Chris Vondo appealed to residents to safeguard these facilities against vandalism and theft once they were open to the public.
