The world class school that is set to open its doors for pupils in Alexandra next year has launched an intensive programme of engagement with the community and prospective pupils and the parents of Kgololo Academy.

Two interns have been hired with the sole mandate of engaging the community and ensuring the conversation about the school does not die. Lethlabile Duvhana and Ellen Makgoba have been tasked with holding one-on-one family sessions with both parents and pupils with their prospective teachers.

Duvhana will lead the portfolio of parents whose pupils have already been registered with the school. She will call them and give the dates and times on which they can come to the school at the Methodist Church premises in 2nd Avenue to have a conversation with the teachers about of their children and to establish rapport.

Her counterpart Makgoba will engage with prospective parents to explain the mission and objectives of the school and its educational approach that sets it apart from the rest.

“We want to aggressively market the school to potential parents and convince them why they need to send their children to us instead of the many other public and private schools in the surrounding areas,” Magoba said.

Meanwhile, Kgololo Academy has already hired two ‘dynamic’ teachers with six years of experience each for their opening two Grade R classes. The two teachers come from Alberton and Pretoria, and the school is still looking for two pre-R class teachers for their two classes and one assistant teacher. The teachers, whom school co-founder Waahida Tolbert-Mbatha described as dynamic, will be unveiled at the forthcoming family meetings scheduled for 2 to 9 August.
