Restaurant chain warms children’s stomachs

ALEXANDRA - Doppio Zero, the restaurant chain group warmed up the hearts and stomachs of children and staff members of the Angels home day care centre on 12 Avenue in honour of Nelson Mandela.

Restaurant chain, Doppio Zero warmed up the hearts and stomachs of children and staff members of the Angels home day care centre on 12 Avenue in honour of Nelson Mandela.

The centre supports four- to six-year-old children from poor families and receives partial funding from the department of social development. Parents who can afford it pay R150 monthly fees for their children, but centre principal Jessie Mothupi said some parents were unable to pay as they were unemployed.

However, she said the centre couldn’t exclude anybody, in keeping with advice from Mandela that children deserved education.

The centre’s premises are small and they have been advised by the department to look for a more suitable property. Mothupi appealed for monetary support so the centre could move to bigger premises.
