Library celebrates Mandela Day

ALEXANDRA - Sara Makgale, a motivational speaker, will address the youth during Mandela Day at River Park Library on 19 July starting at 10am.

Sara Makgale, a motivational speaker, will address the youth during Mandela Day at River Park Library on 19 July starting at 10am.

She will talk about ubuntu-botho (the spirit of humanity) and she believes that ubuntu is a noble gift, a true natural law and a guiding light for human conduct. This principle has undying permanent value in us, and is applied by individuals, families, private and public organisations and communities world-wide.

“South Africa is blessed to have people who fully symbolise this principle. We give selflessly and reach out to others with love and compassion. It’s time our youth learn humanitarian principles on which African culture is based,” she said.

She said the youth would also be encouraged to gain self knowledge.

“You will never go anywhere in life until you know who you are,” she said.

“This is supremely important because it is what we are all looking for all our life – [it’s] the purpose of your life.”

Other topics include self-esteem, teenage pregnancy and corporate social investment. She speaks at seminars, schools, matric dances, churches, youth centres, corporations, NGOs and government departments.

“We are very privileged to have her at the River Park Library on this day,” said senior librarian, Melanie Burgin.
