Tip-off leads to discovery of bags of ammo in Alex shack

ALEXANDRA - No arrests have made in a tip-off that led to the recovery of a bag full of automatic rifle ammo in a shack in Alexandra.

No arrests have made after a tip-off led to the discovery of three bags filled with automatic rifle ammo in a shack in Alexandra.

A spokesperson for the Sandton-based security company that received the tip-off, CSS Tactical said they could not disclose the exact location of the shack where the items were discovered as a police investigation was underway.

“All we are prepared to say at this stage is that no arrests have been made, and that police are investigating,” the spokesperson said.

On 3 July, the CSS Tactical team received a tip-off about a possible illegal stash in Alex. This information was immediately shared with the police who moved in on the location, but as there was no one at the premises and they only managed to confiscate three large bags filled with automatic rifle ammunition, the spokesperson said.

The matter is under further investigation, he added.
